The word of the day was PAUSE ⏸️!!!! Something that was the tipping point for me 3years ago and has now become my anchor message to the creatives in the little community I’m journeying with over the past few months.

All the amazing experiences I’ve had over these past 3 years (including the @britishsewingbee all started when God gracefully called me to stop 🛑 and pause. ⏸️ . And now I’m actively advocating for it because I know how vital it’s been for me and those around me.

Sometimes, we’re so caught up in the hustle and bustle that we forget to take a moment to breathe and reflect. 🧘‍♀️

It can be a simple walk or a place with breathe taking views like this. And P.S the most breathtaking views aren’t on a postcard; they can and most likely are right in front of us.

When life feels overwhelming, take a moment to stop🛑, breathe, and appreciate the beauty around you.

As Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s a reminder that even in the midst of the storm, there is calm.

This beautiful view reminded me to slow down, to find gratitude in the simple things. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is always beauty to be found.

And today I’d like to encourage you to do the same. Take a walk and moment to soak a quiet place around you. Let it remind you of the bigger picture. Find peace in the present moment.

Let the tranquility of nature wash over you, and find peace in the present moment.

Remember, it’s absolutely okay to pause and recharge. Your journey is just as important as your destination.

It’s not about being constantly productive. It’s about finding balance and making sure you’re on the right path. So, take a break, catch your breath, and reconnect with yourself. You deserve it. ❤️

Here is what I said.

A simple question, but it sent me down a rabbit hole of trying to explain my ever-evolving career path.

How do you explain being a multi-passionate creative to a tiny human? 😂

I ended up saying something like, “Well, sometimes I design beautiful spaces for people to live in (that’s called architectural design), and sometimes I create things with fabric (like sewing!).

And along the way, I also help people figure out how to do cool stuff with their ideas.

His eyes widened! I think he was imagining me as a superhero. 😂!

I know, it’s not the most glamorous explanation, but it’s honest! The truth is, I love wearing many hats.

I love the magic of turning a space into a home and the satisfaction of creating something tangible with my hands. But most importantly, I love helping others unlock their own creative potential.

Helping others unlock their creative potential is like finding hidden treasure. It’s my mission to make the world a more beautiful, inspiring place, one creative project at a time. 🌈

So, while I might not fit neatly into a job title, I’m living proof that you can have multiple passions and build a fulfilling career around them.

I think that about covers it, right? 😂

One thing for sure, it definitely got me thinking about how we simplify complex things for the next generation.

You’d think a mind that jumps from architecture/interior design to clay sculpting would be chaotic, right?

Wrong. It’s been my secret weapon.

I used to see my multi-passionate self as a curse. Jumping from one creative project to another felt like a scattered puzzle with missing pieces.

But looking back, it was the missing pieces that made the full picture so vibrant.

From string art to sewing, each project was a thread in the tapestry of my life.

These handmade creations weren’t just hobbies; they were stepping stones. They led me to unexpected paths, introduced me to incredible people, and ultimately, ignited my entrepreneurial spirit.

People often question my “focus,” but let me flip the script: What if your greatest strength lies in your diversity? What if those multiple interests are actually your superpower? 💪

Throwing it back to that time I decided to conquer the sewing machine! 🪡🇬🇧 Circa 2018

See back home in Uganda 🇺🇬 , East Africa, finding a skilled seamstress (or “fundi” as we call them) to whip up an outfit is as easy as pie.

But when I found myself needing a showstopper for an event in the heart of Bath,UK, the challenge was on!

Determined to wear African fabric, I embarked on a sewing journey that would change everything. Hours turned into days, mistakes into lessons, and doubt into determination.

This dress is more than just fabric and thread; it’s a symbol of perseverance and the magic that happens when you step outside your comfort zone.

I treasured it so much that when @chloe_louise_palmer put out a call for models for her fashion photography assignment under @chloepalmerphotography , I immediately reached out to her.

The result.. a stunning photoshoot with pictures of the dress that I will forever hold dear. Yet another lesson to learn…the power of collaborating with creatives (I even wrote a book about it. 🤗Shameless plug😜)

But the big lesson here is…

Sometimes the best results come from a place of lack or scarcity. Who would’ve thought a little DIY could lead to such a big win?

I know I’ve been quiet on here but…as it is the second half of the year I went into a little reflection mode. Gearing Up for a New Season: Embracing the Multi-Passionate Me! (Wearing one of my fave batik fabric makes)😁

Dusting off my metaphorical sewing machine and diving back into the 12-Week Year!

As a seasonal creative, I thrive on bursts of focused energy and short-term projects. That might seem “accidental” to some, but this approach fuels my multi-passionate fire.

One minute I’m lost in a world of fabric swatches (yes, the “Great British Sewing Bee” afterglow is still simmering!), the next I’m diving into a new creative venture.

This “quiet time aka Haitius” I’m in at the moment has been a time for rejuvenation and strategic planning. With the 12-Week Year book (highly recommend by the way)as my guide, I’m gearing up for a new season - one filled with exciting projects and creative exploration.

So…., I want to be upfront – I’ll still be taking some time off here and there to recharge. But when I’m “on,” I’ll be firing on all cylinders!

Hello everyone,

While you might be here expecting another sewing post (don’t worry, those are coming!), today I wanted to take a step back and introduce a little but big part about myself.

For many of you, I’m Comfort from this years’ Sewing Bee but my creative journey started long before that. Back in Uganda 🇺🇬 , my love for architecture blossomed – redesigning spaces that foster connection and joy for people. Fast forward, and here I am in the UK, sewing machines and fabric in hand, creating pieces that celebrate the vibrant stories woven into every textile.

The truth is, I’m a multi-passionate creative. I’m not defined by one single passion. I’m an architect 👷🏿‍♀️who sews 🪡 , a dreamer who builds, and most importantly, a creative who thrives on exploration.☺️

Here’s the biggest takeaway I’ve learned on this multi-passionate path: Don’t be afraid to explore your creative curiosities. Maybe you’re a data whiz with a secret passion for painting. Perhaps you’re a baker who dreams of writing poetry. Embrace it all!

Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Let your creativity be the force that makes you feel alive, that makes others feel inspired.

What ignites YOUR soul? Is it music, writing, painting, baking that incredible pie? Don’t be afraid to embrace the multitude of passions that make you, YOU. The world needs your unique blend of creativity, and the journey of exploration is just as important as the final product.

As I continue to explore my multi-passionate journey, I want to encourage YOU to embrace the wellspring of creativity within you. Don’t be afraid to explore different avenues, to express yourself in ways that might surprise you.

New Season, New Beginnings! ✨ (#GBSewingBee 2024)

Remember the cocoon dress I made in episode 1? Turns out, it’s a staple in my wardrobe! It’s like a shorter version of the classic African boubou dress, and let me tell you, it’s incredibly comfortable.

And of course….African batik fabrics will forever have a special place in my heart. This one was specially made by the lovely Agatha from Tanzania as well. I had enough to make dresses for both Hannah and I. (As you can see in the picture.

Since the Sewing Bee 2024 aired, I feel like I’m embarking on a whole new season in life! I’m so excited to share more of my world with all of you.

It’s a Wrap!

The most incredible adventure has come to an end! While I didn’t take home the win on #TheGreatBritishSewingBee, the journey has been absolutely transformative. 🪡✨

From the heart-pounding challenges to the supportive friendships, every stitch taught me something new about myself and my passion for creativity.

While I may not have taken home the crown, the friendships, the lessons, and the sheer joy of creating on the Great British Sewing Bee will stay with me forever. This experience was a wild ride, pushing me outside my comfort zone and reminding me of the wise words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

I leave you with a few precious and critical moments and my WHYs for this amazing experience.

Well SPORTS WEEK!! And that is my time in the sewing room done too. 🤗❤️🙌🏾🐝🪡

It was one of the weeks that I was most afraid of.
So even though it’s the week I have left the sewing room, It was the most precious, dear and beautiful experience of sewing.

To leave the sewing room knowing, I made my little brother @d.adriko that UGANDAN 🇺🇬 RUGBY outfit using (not just one but )TWO sewing machines I had never ever used before getting into the @britishsewingbee sewing room!!!

I can definitely say, wow. What an experience!!! Never would I have ever imagined this would be ever possible but here I am to say it did happen.

Wow!!! Thank you Lord!!!!

Tablecloth? More like table-fabulous! This skirt started life as a forgotten tablecloth, but with a little creativity, it became my new summer staple.

What an experience it was watching Episode 1! The pictures speak volumes. True to the saying eh!?

It’s been humbling, beautiful, and soooo lovely.

Who would have guessed?

It was 2019, I simply wanted to find a place to find some “me time” and a way to keep my creativity after moving to a new country (let alone new continent), newly married with a 6month old baby.

This Lugbara girl from Arua, Uganda 🇺🇬 to grace the TV screens of UK 🇬🇧 on @britishsewingbee on @bbcone.

Sewing did that for me and now look where I am. If this isn’t God showing off his faithfulness (He’s got you and me), I don’t know what it is.

Really humbled and excited for this opportunity. Let the show begin.🤗🤗

I am so glad, thrilled, blessed to finally be able to share the news.
